Emergency Response & Scene Management
Prioritise actions based on the severity of injuries and conditions
Coordinate with others, ensuring clear communication and proper role delegation
Follow protocols to prevent infection and contamination
Understand a first aid's role and responsibilities
Safely assess the scene and ensure personal safety
Call emergency services when needed and manage the scene effectively
Conduct a primary survey (Doctor ABC)
Administration of CPR & AED
Perform CPR on adults, including chest compressions and rescue breaths
Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively
Recognise when to start and stop CPR based on the casualty's condition
Basic life support and apply life-saving techniques effectively
Identify common difficulties during resuscitation and manage challenges like airway obstruction or ineffective compression
Recovery Position & Monitoring
Place a breathing casualty in the recovery position to maintain an open airway
Continuously monitor breathing and adjust as necessary to ensure the casualty's safety
Treating an unconscious casualty & monitoring and management of seizures


Wound Care & Trauma Management
Control bleeding effectively using appropriate techniques, including pressure and elevation
Treat minor cuts, grazes, bruises, burns, and splinters with correct first aid procedures
Apply bandages correctly to control bleeding and protect wounds.
Medical Emergencies & Choking Procedures
Recognise and respond to heart attacks, strokes, seizures, and other medical emergencies
Identify partial or complete airway obstructions (choking) and perform the appropriate first aid
Recognise the signs of shock and provide immediate first aid to stabilise the casualty
Address non-life-threatening injuries such as sprains, cuts, and bruises
Apply correct first aid response (Heimlich manoeuvre or back blows) in choking


Shock & Fainting
Regulations & First Aid Kit Management
Recognise the signs and symptoms of shock and fainting
Provide immediate first aid support, including positioning the casualty and monitoring vital signs
Managing and implementing first aid steps to stabilise and monitor the casualty in shock until help arrives
Follow regulations for recording and reporting incidents and treatments
Ensure first aid kits are properly stocked and easily accessible
Adhere to legal and organisational regulations in all aspects of first aid care
